What We Did Last Night

Glow sticks!!!!
Have you ever played with finger lights? We've used them here: Trains At Night and here: Building Block Castles With Lights

Last night, we waited up past D's bedtime to try them on his fingers!
Then Dad mixed up a special surprise!
Glowing bubbles!
OK, so the bubbles didn't really glow, but they still had fun with the glowing liquid!
Glowing hands!
Then he wanted to put it on his feet.
And the dog!
And all over the grass - it looked like a bunch of stars.
The bubbles were a let down, but it sure turned out to be some Fun liquid to play with (I'm not sure you should do this).
We don't see why not :)

They Grow Up So Fast!

There have been a few signs lately that my little ones are growing up ...
At first it was little L needing an exersaucer at only 2 months.

And D telling me, "I did it myself!" after putting his shoes on while I was getting L ready to go...
Of course they are backwards, and we left them that way. I wasn't going to take away his pride - and
as long as he didn't mind, why should I?
Now little 3 month old is swinging outside!
And getting her nails painted!
D has started shaving with Daddy.
L rolled over for the first time at 3 months.
D drives a motorcycle with no help.
These are legit reasons to say .....
WAIT. My 2 yr old son is SHAVING!?

They grow up so fast.

LOL

Frozen Fruit and Stars

Picked up some fruit and star ice cube trays and filled them with water and food coloring. They turned out really neat! Can't wait to use them again next week:)
It was so hot this week, so playing with ice and water is a must.
It's fun to send them down the gutter and see the colored trails they leave behind.
Caught some!
D said, "One, two stars. I have two stars!"
Little L was peeking at us from her play chair. You can tell she can't wait to do big kid activities.
After while their hands were getting stained from the food coloring. They wanted to go in and wash their hands, so instead, I asked if they'd like soap bubbles in the tub. Of course! So we played with warm soapy water and ice. Their hands weren't stained any more and this added a whole new element to the play, making it last long after the ice had melted!

Sorry, Sweetie, it's your bedtime!

I can imagine what would have happened last night if I would have said, "Sorry Sweetie, it's bedtime."
First, let me explain that we have a bed time routine: Bath, snack, snuggle/book and go to sleep, or play with the trains with mommy or daddy, snack and then go to sleep. Either way, the routine doesn't include doing whatever D wants whenever he wants. He needs structure and routine so he can know what comes next, and I need it so I can have peace and happiness in our home.

However, when my son said, "We need to water the flowers!" last night, I realized he was right. However, we just had bath, snuggle/story time and were on our way to go to sleep.

So what do you do?
Daddy took him out to water as I put little L to sleep. Then I looked out the window and saw this! Daddy was laughing, and D was splashing through the puddles in his jammies!
D ran through the puddles at least 200 times.
He also did some butt flops and a few rolls!
D and Daddy walked down the street to return a toy to the neighbor kids.
Then, it was about 9:00 pm ( thought for sure we'd be going in), and Josh looked at me and said, "Isn't it a little too late for an ice cream truck to be out and about?" We heard the music, and then we saw this!
I guess it's not too late to have your first ice cream from the ice cream truck ... or should I say bike? And, yes, it's OK to have this before you go to bed tonight.

The neighbor kids that Josh and D returned the toy to earlier all came running and got ice cream with us!
I would have missed all of this, and D would have missed these memories. If I would have said, "Sorry, Sweetie, it's your bed time."

Creating Colors and Cooling Off

Clear condiment containers and Fizzy Tub Colors
We put one of each into containers.
Then the mixing began!
Yellow and Blue = Green!
Red + Blue = Purple!
Look, it's fizzy!
S mixed her own, and she said she created grey!
I-Bell cooling off.
Refilling his container.
Look at that!
I tried to get a picture of how red he was. He got the liquid all over his head and hair lol.
Snack time!
Mmmm:)

Walking Sticks

I got these bamboo walking sticks from the Dollar Tree.
It was the perfect day to sit outside and paint them!
They love to paint!
D-25 months.
S took her time. She was still sitting and painting long after the other two were done. She was so focused - a little artist!
Little lady L watched as the big kids painted:)
Everyone's stick was custom cut to their height:)
Then we added beads and feathers.
And they went fishing!!! LOL
We did go for a walk with our sticks. Some how I ended up holding all of the sticks at the end of the walk. Oh well:)
