DIY Phonogram Boxes

I purchased the sandpaper phonograms for my son. He likes tracing them and writing them in the sand tray, or writing them on a chalkboard, but he needed more of a challenge to keep his interest ...
So we went to the craft store together, and he picked out these cute little wooden boxes.
I made the combination phonograms in Word, printed and then pasted them to the boxes.
Inside we put Montessori Style Phonogram Cards from trilliummontessori.org
He picks the sandpaper phonogram, traces it and says the sound, then he opens the box and sets out the pictures. Once the pictures are set out, he reads and then matches the words to their pictures.

He really likes working on these, and I really enjoyed making them!

We will add more once he masters the four he's currently working on.
