Learning with Sand

Sand play can be so important for kids. A few things come to mind, like creative/imaginative play, pouring, dumping, fine/gross motor building, etc. However, our sand play today was all about reading and writing.

I had so much fun watching my little D. He's just beginning to try his hand at writing letters (more on that later).
I-Bell's "You"
S writing "The"
Dixon's D's were sideways - perfect for the camera.
The girls are getting very good at sounding out their words.
This is what he said, "D, I .... I'm making a choo choo mama."

It was very fun, and my back deck is now pink!

:)
