Easter Fun on the Light Table

Easter Fun on the Light Table

Dollar Store Table Scatter Gems & crystal plastic Easter eggs.
I love bringing the kids into a room with an activity set up like this and seeing what they do with it.
And seeing their smiles:)
D filled his egg and shook it to make noise. Then he'd pull the eggs apart and the gems would fly all over the place.
He'd pick them up and do it over again.

Beaded Easter Egg Sun Catchers

I had fun watching the girls do this each their own way. S takes her time to ensure it's just the way she imagines it to be. Then there is I-Bell who sees what's in front of her and says, let's git 'r done!

Eggs were drawn with hot glue.
Then filled with clear Elmer's Glue.
And filled with beads.
S picking and choosing the perfect beads for her masterpiece.
I-Bell's was covered in 2 seconds. On to the next egg!
Dumping the beads in:)

Both girls turned out very different, and very cool. Can't wait for them to dry so we can hang them up! I'll update when they are done.

Here they are hung up!
Sophia's
Ilah's

I love them:)

Finger Painting with Mommy and Daddy

Finger Painting with Mommy and Daddy

Last week I covered our table with freezer paper, and when Daddy came home, he and I both joined in on the finger painting.
What did D request we make? I'm sure you can guess...
Choo choos? No way!

Cute hands:)

This painting is now hanging above his bed in his room. At night we turn off the lights and he shines his flashlight on the drawing and tells us about the painting.

Telling Stories

Telling Stories

I recently got a bag of random animals, people, shapes, trees, etc. I wasn't too sure what to do with these until today. We got them out, and started telling stories. I-Bell loved it! She has a very creative and imaginitive mind, so it was fun to listen to what she came up with!

I wish I would have written down her story:(
There were dinosaurs and elephants ...
Monkeys and an airplane!
The two of them worked well with clean-up. I-Bell held open the bag, and D named everything as he put it in.

Glowing Fun

Glowing Fun

This weekend I went out and bought a black light for the kids. There are so many fun activities out there that I can't resist trying. When I saw the girls' socks this morning, I knew it was the perfect day to get the light out!
First things first, check out those socks!!
They are fun:)
Then make a page full of lady bugs, and a beautiful flower.
Act silly (this reminded me of my sister and I when we were young putting the Girl Talk pimples all over our faces.)
We got some straws and fruit snacks out.

Have you ever seen a Geo Board Choo Choo?

Have you ever seen a Geo Board Choo Choo?

I bought this Geo Board from the Learning Shop for under $5.00 a few weeks ago. After I bought it, I introduced it to D with a bag full of rubber bands. He didn't quite get how to stretch the rubber bands and wrap them around the nails. It didn't take long before D focused strictly on exploring how to cover the living room floor with rubber bands.

I decided to try it again today at the table, with only a few rubber bands for him to use. They are sorted by color for color recognition. I would say things like, "I see you chose the blue rubber band."
He got right to work without me showing him what to do. Look at that face of concentration:)
And he was stretching the rubber bands!
And even getting them on the nails!
No, I did not help him make that triangle.
Yes, I did have to make this choo choo, after he requested it.
I knew he'd bring trains into this somehow. He always does!
D tells me this train is Gordon.

A Big Hit

A Big Hit

Today I set up a plastic ball and bat for D in our basement.
I showed him how to hold the bat and swing, but he preferred to use one hand.
He was doing a great job making contact!
He was clearly having fun, until he thought of this next activity ...
Playing dress-up. LOL!!!

Marble Tunnel and Track

Marble Tunnel and Track

Right away this morning, D and I got to work on a marble run. Well, he got to work playing with his Thomas trains that recently received new batteries (thanks to Papa), and I had the perfect opportunity to set this up.

Josh and I bought a bunch of this plastic tubing (D calls it a tunnel) from Fleet Farm. I simply taped it to our train table.
Added the gutter (or choo choo track, whatever you choose to call it) and a plastic container to catch the marbles.
What the pictures don't show is D drove his Thomas trains all over this to begin with. Every new thing must involve trains, in his mind.
Finding use for these blocks everywhere!
Putting a marble in ... he'd say, "Watch this, Mama."
We are going to have fun with all of these:)
He seemed to like it ... the trains had fallen off the track and were running on their sides, and he continued to play! I turned them off - it drives me crazy when they're running and not being played with.
An action shot!
Down to the gutter. D would yell out, "Hooray!" and clap his hands at the end of each run.
This was so fun. After we cleaned all of these up, I had to change the little princess. D, naturally, took the marbles and threw them all over the living room. We cleaned them up, and went through the container of marbles through the marble run again. I love when activities are a big hit:) Speaking of big hit, I've got something planned for after nap and cannot wait!!

UPDATE:

So daddy comes home and instantly has the idea to add a funnel - awesome!
He and D had a lot of fun playing with the marble track. It was much easier for him to get the marbles through, especially when he wanted to do more than one at a time!
Dad caught one! These boys are so fun to watch.
