Felt Pumpkin Faces

I cut pumpkins out of orange felt, and some shapes and mouths out of black felt.

The kids have been having fun creating some different faces. 

We've even played a game. Can you find the top teeth that match the bottoms?

A match! 

And what do you think D made? 

A choo choo, of course.

Telephone!

Recently I was organizing our play closet. The kids grabbed the plastic tubing out that we used here and someone started talking into it. Then someone grabbed the other end and yelled into it - lol. This is how we started telephone ...

We sat around the corner from each other. One person listened, as the other person talked (quietly). 

They were saying some pretty silly things to each other.  

There was a lot of giggling going on! 

Such a simple little activity. 

:)

Sure beats tying two coffee cans together by a string - this worked great! 

Fun with Learning Numbers

Train Number Match

Little D just turned 2.5. He is very interested in letters and numbers. This morning he was telling me that Thomas is the number one blue engine; then he started asking me what numbers the rest of the trains had. So we created a little game.

They gathered the trains (that we could find) with numbers on them/their coal cars. 

I then created little tickets for each engine. 

They would pick a ticket and flip it over to read (or learn) its number. 

Then find the train with the matching number. 

They had so much fun doing this. 

There is the number 4 - it's Gordon! 

They eventually fought over who got to pick the number 1.  

They replayed this game a few times. Each time I-Bell arranged the tickets to be picked so she would be the one to pick the number 1. LOL

They've never paid attention to the numbers on the trains. I'm curious to see if they talk about them during play now:)

October Fun

Leaf Art: 

Mod Poge, picture frames from the dollar store and leaves from our walk. 

A fun project that requires little help from me. I love when the kids create their own art. 

They turned out beautiful! 

Finger knitting! 

This required help from me. The weaving between fingers was difficult for her, but the pulling loops over fingers she could do. 

Great fine motor activity! 

And a perfect little scarf for her baby doll. 

We also made some silly putty. 

Laundry detergent and glue. 

Sticky, slimy, stretchy, gooey! Fun!

And some Halloween masks!! 

I'm almost 8 months old! Were did the time go??

Fall Leaf Projects

Leaf Coasters. 

Next we Mod-Podged leaves. 

Then we used little tiny clothes pins to hang them to dry on a piece of twine. 

It's fun for the kids to do. 

Good for fine motors! 

And basically, that's all you do! 

I eventually switched out these clothes pins with even smaller ones.... 

I don't have a picture of this with the smaller pins - but it's much nicer! I love this!

Powder Paint Sticky Paper Leaves

Powder paint, Q-Tips, Sticky paper with leaf drawings. 

It was a beautiful morning. There was a cool breeze yet the sun was so warm against your skin! 

They enjoyed painting with Q-Tips. 

But, as usual, we need to explore with our hands! 

A good sensory experience - covering the sticky paper with powder paint.

We've been enjoying these on our front door.

They turned out perfect!
