First Round of Making our own Chalk

Powder Tempera Paint!

This is what recently came for us in the mail — I'm so excited. 

We mixed it with Plaster of Paris. 

Put it into a plastic bag and mixed in some warm water.

Then we cut the corner off of the bag. 

Squeezed it into TP rolls lined with wax paper ... 

and let it dry for about 24 hours. 

Today we unrolled our chalk! 

I experimented with red and yellow yesterday. This is our first round of making chalk, so I wasn't sure if it would work. 

S noticed today when we were coloring (that's her pointing to it in the previous picture). Next time, which will be very soon, I'm going to make more color variations of 2-in-1 colored chalk. How cool!

Hmm ... what else can we do with this stuff?
